Guiding Stars, Let's Go! and Healthy Maine Partnerships Celebrate Wellness in Windham

Hannaford’s Guiding Stars and Let’s Go! joined forces with Healthy Maine Partnerships to promote healthy choices as part of Windham, Maine’s Summerfest activities on Saturday, June 20th.  Summerfest is an annual community-wide event designed to celebrate summer and welcome residents and visitors alike to Windham and the Sebago Lakes region.  Several thousand folks turned out for a huge parade, day-long festivities with community booths, games and activities for kids, music, lots of food and a terrific fireworks show.

The parade featured over 120 units, including Hannaford’s antique farm truck, Let’s Go!’s REDY mascot and Windham students dressed as fruits and veggies to encourage families to Eat Right, Be Active & Get Healthy!  The organizations also sponsored a booth with a giant nutrition puzzle, lots of information on healthy living, free apples & water and other giveaways.

The Windham Let’s Go! Community Team is part of the larger Let’s Go! effort which promotes healthy lifestyle choices for children, youth, and families in 12 Greater Portland communities by focusing on physical activity and healthy eating. The multi-year project is funded by Let’s Go! Founding Partners Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Foundation, TD Bank, Hannaford, MaineHealth, Maine Medical Center, Unum, and the United Way of Greater Portland.
